Last Friday, Liberty County High defeated Statesboro. As a Panther fan, I must state that the win came a the right time. But I would ask, how will the team deal with this win? The win is needed to boost the morale of the team and its fans. I am concerned that the team will become complacent forgetting that it needs a great deal of work on its fundamentals like time management.
Example: During the game, just before half-time, the team fail to score with a little more that 40 seconds to go. Many will site the referee's slow movement as the reason. I would beg to differ. The team has continue to show that it does not have a firm grasps of clock management. We can look back a the Effingham game and others. It is my opinion that the Panther would benefit from practicing with a sense of urgency.
Then there is the matter of self-discipline. Another issue that I believe will re-surface is the uncall for behavior of their quarterback at half-time. I believe that the Panthers were lucky not to earn a flag for his helmet banging actions. If the Panther are to true this season around, it must start with being discipline.
I do not believe that Panthers will face another team that will play a bad as Statesboro. Will this win cause the team not to focus on proper block, tackling and better play calling. It is my opinion that the score is not a true reflection of the game. Against Richmond Hill, we will see how the team dealt with the win.
On a positive note, number 42, 40 and 15 played a great game.
Go Panthers
