The Long County High School football team surprised everyone Friday when they took a 7-0 lead against No. 5 Charlton County High School. Despite pulling ahead early and keeping the game close, the Indians went on to beat the Blue Tide 74-28.
The loss dropped the Blue Tide’s record to 0-6 overall and 0-5 in Region 2-AA. Charlton is still the top school in the region with a 4-0 mark. Their overall record is 5-0-1.
Other results in Region 2-AA action from Friday had McIntosh County (5-1 overall, 4-0 in the region) defeating Jeff Davis (1-6, 0-5) 48-0; Tattnall County (5-1, 3-1) beating Pierce County (0-7, 0-5) 22-14; and Brantley County (5-1, 3-1) getting by Benedictine (5-2, 3-2) 31-14. Appling County (5-1, 3-1) had their open week.
