Long County lost to Brantley County, 6-0, Tuesday night, giving them a 3-7 overall record and a 2-AA Region record of 2-4.
The Lady Blue Tide couldn’t get their bats on track as they put up just three hits against the Lady Herons, two in the first inning and one in the second inning. The hits belonged to Skylar Ogden, Kayla Mills and Kelly Long.
"We just weren't able to get our bats working. If you can't get hits you can't get on base" said head coach Cindy Mills.
According to Mills, the girls have been struggling to get on base, despite three-hour practices and two  batting practice sessions.  Even though the girls are struggling at bat, Mills said they are showing improvement over last year.
"Last year we struck out a lot, this year we are at least putting the ball in play, so we are seeing improvement; just not solid hits", said the coach.
One thing that the Blue Tide coaches are doing is trying to build the team's unity up by having "team building" games and activities once a week, after a practice.
The Lady Blue Tide was back on the diamond yesterday (Thursday 9/18) taking on St. Vincent's Academy, but the results from that game were unavailable.
This Tuesday, September 23rd the Bradwell Lady Tiger's come to town, and the Tide will be looking to show the 3-AAAAA school that they can play with the big schools.  The Tigers, on the other hand, come into the game winless, and will be looking for their first win of the season.
The game should be an evenly matched contest with Bradwell averaging 2.5 runs a game compared to the Tide averaging 3.2 a game.
The game is in Ludowici and starts at 5:00 PM.
