Two Panthers sign football scholarships

Two Liberty County Panthers are among the many gifted athletes that were able to pen their names to scholarships on football's National Siging Day Wednesday.

Running back Roderick Jones signed to play at Shorter College in Rome. The Hawks football program are a part of the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics. He will face former Panther full back, Byron Calahan, who will start his sophomore year at Bethel for the 2009 season. Jones will also join the track team at Shorter.

Defensive player Trier Bennett will take his tackling skills to Tuskegee, joining the Golden Tigers of Alabama. They are a part of the Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference. Bennett said his goal was to do everything in his power to avoid being benched his redshirt season.
