Bradwell Institute’s Tigers knew they had a tough game Friday when the undefeated and top ranked Camden County Wildcats waltzed into Olvey Field.

The Wildcats set the tone early, returning the opening kick 98 yards for their first touchdown in their 55-10 win over BI.

The Tigers managed to avoid a shutout by establishing a drive in the third quarter.

New Tiger running back Kelton Jacobs returned a kickoff from the 15-yard line to midfield. The Wildcats drew a personal foul, giving the Tiger a shorter field. Jacobs carried the ball for another first down. Then he had a short carry, but a series of problems pushed the Hinesville boys back. On third down, however, Tiger quarterback Myrese Cobb kept the ball for a first down run and then a carry to the one yard line. Cobb then ran the ball in for the touchdown, avoiding the shutout.

The Tigers mounted another drive in the beginning of the fourth but were left with a field goal shot by kicker David Miller.

Offensively the Wildcats had three quick runners and the ability to find the open seam, scoring 41 points in the first half.

After scoring their first touchdown off the opening kickoff the Wildcats first offensive drive led to a 32 yard field goal.

The Tigers’ offense was then pinned back inside their own four yard line. The Tiger’s center hiked the ball over Cobb’s head twice. On the second high snap the Wildcats recovered the ball in the end zone but a holding call saved the Tigers’ from giving up a touchdown.

Cobb completed a pass to Leonard Felton but a fumble and a sack for a loss forced the punt.

The Wildcats started at their own 25 yard line and a hand off to their running back gave the Wildcats a first down at the Tigers’ 2. They scored on the next play.

Within the span of 10 minutes the Wildcats scored another 24 unanswered points to go into intermission up 41-0.

In the second half, the Wildcats’ starters added two more touchdowns before the coaching staff sent in their second unit.

The Tigers were able to make some ground in the second half mostly due to Jacobs’ running abilities. Tiger coach Jim Walsh said the young man moved from Arkansas to Hinesville and joined the team toward the end of August. All of his paperwork was completed and filed with the Georgia High School Association, making him eligible to participate in Friday’s game.

"He came in and certainly made an immediate contribution," Walsh said.

Camden remains undefeated at 4-0 overall and 3-0 in Region 3-AAAAA. The Tigers are currently 1-4 overall and 1-2 in the region.

Next Friday the BI team will host Savannah High School for a 7:30 homecoming game at Olvey Field.
