The Long County High School baseball team recently had a car wash and sold dinners to help raise money to attend the University of Georgia’s Wood-Bat Tournament on Thursday and Friday.
The fundraiser was at Fowler’s Auto Service in Ludowici. Players, coaches and parents washed cars and cooked meals for patrons.
Blue Tide head coach Brian Thomas said the UGA event will be a showcase tournament with at least 20 teams participating.
“It’s the first time we’ve gone
to this tournament, and we’re looking forward to having a good time and seeing how we do,” Thomas said. “One of the highlights will be that we get to practice on the UGA field. Everyone’s looking forward to
that.”
The coach thanked the Diamond Club, the players’ parents and the patrons who paid to have their cars washed or bought dinners.
“I just want to thank everyone who helped in any way today,” he said.
