On Thursday, the Long County High School softball team wrapped up its regular season with a disappointing loss to the Tattnall County Battle Creek Warriors, 5-2.
With the loss, the team's overall record fell to 4-8, and their 2-AA Region record fell to 2-5.  This year the team has averaged three runs a game, and gave up six runs in each contest.
The ladies finished the season in sixth place in the 2-AA Region behind Pierce County (7-1), Jeff Davis County (6-1), Brantley County (6-2), Appling County (5-2), and McIntosh County (3-5).
Rounding out the region behind the Blue Tide is Tattnall County (2-5), Charlton County (1-6), and St. Vincent's Academy (0-5).
The 2-AA Region Tournament is scheduled for October 7th through the 11th.
The team's wins this year came over Appling County, Charlton County, McIntosh County, and Bradwell institute.
On Thursday, the team also honored senior shortstop Brittany Mills at the Tattnall County game.  Besides playing softball, the senior is the Captain of the Varsity Basketball team.
