The Long County High School football team dropped its ninth game of the season Friday with a 47-7 loss to Brantley County. The defeat leaves the Tide winless this year. With the victory, the Herons improved their overall record to 6-3.

In other Region 2-AA action Friday, Charlton County (8-0-1) shut out Jeff Davis (2-8) 44-0; McIntosh County (7-2) destroyed Pierce County (1-8) 61-0; Appling County (8-1) squeaked by Tattnall County (6-3) 17-14; and Benedictine (5-4) had a bye week.

With one week left in the regular season, the standings in Region 2-AA have Charlton on top with a 7-0 record, Appling and McIntosh tied for second with 6-1 records, followed by Brantley County (4-3), Tattnall County (4-3), Benedictine (3-4), Pierce County (1-6), Jeff Davis (1-7) and Long (0-7).
